A bit of back-tracking

The humble dwelling is up for a feature in "Better Caves & Cabins" since my week with Maureen!! We spent time unpacking boxes, finding my counter tops & digging out the pantry!! & still, the "puppy dogs & dancing paws" were diaper changed & fed!! Not bad, don't you think??
Well...Maureen is back in Vancouver, Sean is off to work, the girls are sleeping soundly, Wellington is dreaming away on the couch & the Huskies are snug in their dog houses...the temperature outside is reading a crisp -6.5 The fire is crackling & life is cozy in my cabin :) Fall is really here!

I should be posting updated photos of the past few days but instead I thought I'd back track a bit...Summer was so awesome & you all missed it (with me off line & most of you in the hot & humid south)! Sean, the girls & I went hiking with friends & tourists through Kluane & the trails were beautiful...from the bees to the moth sex to the mountains to the wild flowers to the smiles...(yes, moth sex...see Stacie's blog for pics) & who could forget the bears!
Mid June Grizzly tracks on the St.Elias Trail - Kluane

Wild flowers over cultivated gardens in the North !!

A bear rub tree

A friendly visit :)

Picnic lunch at the end of a sunny trail...

& to think THIS was a WORK DAY!!
I still vote for a Northern Office over a Southern Office :) Heck Adelaide & Sarah even joined in on this one for their first official hike in the Park!!

There are a ton of things to post! Things about the girls...how Adelaide is bound for the sciences & Sarah for animal medicine...how Jack is still one of the most beautiful huskies to ever be born & how my husband is a master hunter. I could post about my friends...how they are talented & interesting people...Stacie is building her own stunning cabin in the Yukon Wild & Laura is a Search & Rescue hero, Martin is going after the YukonQuest 300 & Marguerite is moving mountains with her smile & humor....Oh...and Little Isaac is waiting patiently to become a big brother ;) to a little one he'd like to call "Sing" ...all in good time Rosemary ;)

All good things to share & I will...so stay tuned...

Did you miss me??

So...did you miss me?? Ahhh...it's good to be able to check e-mail & blog again!! The poor sattelite installation guy had to work for two solid days to get this up and running! Minus 6 trees in our yard & plus one ugly dish on our cozy little cabin roof & da daaa.......INTERNET!!

Well...hear they are @ 10 months!!

Dear little Adelaide Anne just couldn't get through her dinner this time...Our friend Claire visited & plum wore her out !!

Sarah on the other hand was still full of beans & ready to take on the world!!

:):):):):):):):):)

Oh...How I LOVE being back on line! Finally I can get back to posting a few pictures of the house puppies (Adelaise & Sarah) & maybe even a few of the kennel dogs too!!

I've been working all summer for Parks Canada & having a blast! I LOVE my job but, now it's time to be a Stay-At-Home-Mum again :) It's an even better job!! Since I've been home for the past 3 weeks, I've not gone for many drives nor have I been out hiking in the last few weeks either so, no great bear stories to tell but soon I'll get a chance to post a few of my summer pics from my Kluane Adventures! They should be worth waiting for (I hope)!

In the meantime...

Aunt Maureen is hanging out with the FitzGerald girls while Daddy is away ...and life is busy! Daddy might be doing the annual "shop" for moose meat but we gals are holding down the fort & doing a rather fine job I might add! That sister of his is rather impressive...Maureen is slugging it out in the dog yard, hauling food & water to the 38 sled dogs & then helping me out with the cooking, cleaning, & in the mix...she's made time for baking cookies & playing with Adelaide & Sarah...I'm thinking that Maureen should spend ALL of her down time at the "Fastdogs Kennel"...

Another day has passed with no word from Sean & his hunting partner so our hope is that the fellas are not only having a fun camp-out but also a successful one! You see, these two perfectly Northern baby girls have decided that they LOVE moose meat & the freezer is nearly EMPTY!

--------------------------------------------

Sean & Mike just got home...& brought with them one young bull moose...I've never seen a rack so small! Are they legal when they are the size of my hand?? Guess this'll be a tender one...

Thank goodness Maureen & I scoured out the freezer! I honestly thought the thing shoud be given a one way ticket to the local dump...but a bit of hot water, a string mop, some elbow grease & a dab of bleach...it's lookin' mighty fine :)

It's GREAT to have my husband home again :)

Oh by the way...
TWINS RULE (their parents, the house, the furniture...)
:):):)

Lock Down!

Sarah on Left / Adelaide on right
Who ever said that twins can't sleep in the same crib obviously didn't have MY twins!! These two sleep better together than apart!
They are a rather cute sight first thing in the morning too:)
Sarah Grace is standing now & her sister Adelaide isn't far behind!
God help!!!!!

I'm Back!!

Baby Action

Ok, so apparently I have wayyyy too much time on my hands as I'm blogging for Heather yet again! But I just had to post the baby video and pictures from the other day. I think the family and friends need an update eh?!?! Those FitzGeralds (yay, I remembered the capital G) are so busy and internet-less still.

There were a few pictures from this evening on my blog, but here they are again... and more!
Adelaide, notice the awesome little bootie slippers!

Sarah STRETCHES to get out!

haha, I love that shot, and Adelaide's big eyes!

Yet another, still focused on stuffing everything she can in her mouth. They're really so much like puppies!

More Sarah stretching.

More stretchy Sarah.

Adelaide, they are getting really good at looking at things and going after them! For example, your hair, my beer, etc...

Ha, Sarah's feet look HUGE here.

Ack! Stop blinding me with that flash!!!

The cutest twins in the north.

And here's a little video of Sarah doing her stretching thing and Adelaide eating her toys. Pretty cute. And that is Heather chattering away in the background, reading the paper. As if the babies and I care! :)

Bears!!!!

Stacie here, blogging for Heather. She is DYING to get these bear photos on her blog, but is unable to now due to their priority with digging themselves out of SNOW. Snow in June... what fun!! Hey, at least Heather can't complain about the bugs being a bother!! :)

I can't convey Heather's excitement when she heard that I saw bears down the road when I walked into their cabin last weekend. Nor can I convey her utter horror when she realized I didn't tell her THE SECOND I WALKED IN THE DOOR. When she heard I saw bears, she grabbed me and we were out the door faster than I could say "but my beer is still cold...!!"

Momma was not really this close, I just took advantage of the cropping and zooming in tool!

I have to admit, Heather got some great shots! But it's bound to happen when you take, like 500 photos!! But wait! There is video too, but I'll leave her to post that nonsense.

Yes, holy crap she's huge.

This is my favourite shot - the shaggy cub.

That hump says it all = Grizzly.

The beautiful mountains surrounding Haines Junction. This was a km or so from Sean and Heather's by the way...

Bear butts with wee little tails. You can even see momma's foot in this shot. So cool!!!
