When it isn't about the twins...

It's all about the dogs...

and the crazy friends that come with this unusual lifestyle!!
...............

So here are some of the Friends!

Sean: Christmas at the Lucas' - King of MY world anyways ;-)

Mrs Lucas.....
Playing some blindfold game with wine glasses...
Mummm... you can only imagine how THIS one ended...

Now...THIS would be our Stacie...
& yes...that would be a dog jacket on her head.
Notice the fact that Stacie is sitting there as if all is normal in her world??

Jon...a class act all the way....but then again ANY dog musher who wears a quilt wins BIG in my books :) Besides...his better half is Laura Jane....

THIS is Laura Jane...
Dear friend, Maid of Honour, Goddess of Dog mushing & Scottish Yukoner
Here is a girl that can do ANYTHING!!
She's my hero!

Eilidh is daughter to Jon & Laura Jane
(Notice the family resemblance? It's all in the Nose!)
and friend to all :)
I LOVE this family!!

Jim is a sweet heart...a gigantic teddy-bear!
Not even Santa measures up the the gentle heart of this man!!
And only Jim can make the snow GLOW !!

If you don't see exactly what I'm talking about...click on this photo...once it's blown up, you can't miss the orange glow behind him!!
And here are some of the Dogs!!

This would be me with Sarah (b/w) & Duchess (tan)...getting ready to run the Copper Haul Twister Race

Sarah (my daughter) is named after this beauty & after her older cousin who lives in Ontario!
All three have the same Blue eyes ;-)

God only knows who THIS chewer belongs to...I just couldn't resist taking the photo! Gotta say...I'm glad that's not MY dog eating MY truck accessories!!
Again, the Copper Haul Twister...(CHT)

Two of my favourite people...Sarah & Sean

Duchess is centre with the floppy ears...Yunes is the one-eyed guy (actually he has lost his good eye now too...but that's another story!) He was my first leader in my first race!! We didn't win...in fact we came in dead last...but we finished! And not everyone can claim to have done THAT!!

Blowing snow, hyper dogs & a man that lives for those very things!

By now you should recognise Sarah to the right in lead...her Mum, Maui, has been teaching her everything she knows ...Maui is to the left in lead.
Both are stellar girls...

Note: So...
apparently Sean's world has been dominated by powerful, beautiful & intelligent females for a LONG time!!

Fred...ah dear Fred...I miss you buddy!
He's the happy orange guy with the big smile on his face...never has there, nor will there ever be again, a dog like him!
Now he run endless trails of perfect snow...and the sled is always light!

Here is Wellington...

Wellington is by first born! He's lived everywhere with me - through the good & the bad - he has stuck by me! One afternoon he suddenly didn't look so fine...he was all bloated & seemingly desperate...Next thing I knew we were careening down a snow covered highway at a rather neck-breaking speed...we became painfully aware that every second counted...I was loosing him...

At the other end of the 100 mile race, the clinic was open & waiting. It took a total of 10 minutes from the time we arrived till Dr Rick had my boy Welly, cut open from tip to tail. His stomach had flipped...he was dieing...and his chances of survival were grim at best...
Sharing your life with a dog (or 2 or 3 or 4) is awesome, MOST of the time...sometimes it is scary, sometimes it hurts, but MOST of the time it is awesome...

This time was horrible, it was scary, it hurt...

Here he is 3 days later...recovering at home on a new bed that I bought for him.
I won't tell you how much the bill was because, that part doesn't matter...what matters is that I have a picture of Wellington 3 days later...alive.
In fact he's sitting at my feet as I type!

I LOVE our vets...I LOVE Wellington

It's all about "bums & tails" once the snow flies!
Such a beautiful sight!

Hummm...I'm not sure this photo fits into this post at all but I like it.
On the other side of this door is where my children share there cheerios and cheese with Wellington every day. It is where Sean & I play scrabble, like I watched my parents do for years (I assume it takes years to get better at this game) On the other side of this door is where Frinds & family gather for great food & laughter ...the deep-in-the-belly kind of laughter only shared by people who truly "get" each other.
This door opens to a humble place...
...a humble place I call Home

Why the HELL did I have a dog coat on my head?!?!?! I don't even remember that! That's just plain weird.

I like how Laura is "pretending" to be blinded and unable to find her drink... how many times did that happen again? Like a hundred?!?!
