North Bound...

A few weeks ago I decided to go on another Northern Girly Adventure Day! I packed up SO much stuff for the girls that if we'd been trapped in a major snowstorm for 10 days, I think we would have fared reasonably well! Silly perhaps but hay...ya never know...I mean...we're still living under the threat of LAST winter & are STILL waiting for summer to come, or so it seems!! So with the girls packed & the wood stove shut down, we headed, where else but North! Grandma Brenda moved up the highway a few weeks ago & it seemed like a good time to visit...the sun was shining, the sheep would be low on the Mountain (perfect time to stop for some awesome wild life shots) and the day was an open slate!!

Up the road we go!! No Sheep today though :( Oh...They were there...DOZENS of them...but with the highway torn up & all of the construction going on, I couldn't find the entrance into Sheep Mountain !! Oh well, there is always another day :) Heck, I LIVE here!!
It's not like I'm a tourist who has to do and see it all in a few days!
Local or not...those mountains NEVER get boring!!

Almost there!!

We made it!! & there is Brenda waiting!!

This is in Brenda's back yard...can you imagine...a First Nations woman raised FIVE kids in this tiny cabin!! & I thought I had a tiny bitty place!!

Notice Brenda's little red kick-sled out front :) Just like mine!!

Adelaide & Sarah didn't know which way to go...there was SOOO much open floor space...& just LOOK at the high gloss shine she's got going on!!

Well after a short visit & a hot cup of tea & a few well deserved snuggles, it was time to pack up the team!! It took us almost 2 hours to get up there (with construction stops) and I knew the kids needed to get home for their evening routine!

Back on the road home!!

I couldn't help by stop a few times to take a snapshot or two of, what I call, "Northern Goodness"!

The old Burwash Schoolhouse/Church that dates back to the beginning of White man and the Klondike!

Some really old & very cool cabins...most likely the original village of Burwash!

This gal is Barbie!! She was introduced to me as Sean's wife...(actually, her official role in his life was that of Bartender!) Little, at the time, did we know that I was destined to fulfill the role of his "wife" No hard feelings Barbie...God knows I love & respect you !!

On THIS day, instead of cracking me a beer, dear Barbie was helping the girls & I get home safely through the construction zone:) Thanks friend!!

& to the Pilot car driver...."Could you have GONE any FASTER? I thought this was a constructions zone not the Autobahn!!"

Ahhh...Good ol' Kluane Lake! She's always a beautiful sight!

About 300 kilometers later, we arrived home, from our Northern Girly Adventure, happy to be back in our little corner of the Yukon...and Like Dorthy said...

"There's no place like home!"

Is it Sarah sucking on her two middle fingers? I love that, it's so cute! My 3-year-old niece does the same thing (and has since infancy), only she usually has her fingers stuck through the holes of her favourite crocheted blankie. LOL

Good eye Fawn!! That IS Sarah! Her Aunt Maureen & her cousin William did the same so, she comes by it honestly.... Funny the things kids do!!

LOL Tamara. These kids are dangerous Heather, you must hide them from the rest of us, or there will be babies popping out all over the Yukon...

Tamara, Stacie: I'm all for that! Just think...the more friends I have popping out babies, the more firends I have to hang out with during the day to have ADUKT conversations with...oh ya...and the girls would have playmates too!! Hummm...sounds like a plan to me...Time to repreduce girls!!
